ECR International Promotions - 09/22/2021

On August 20, 2021, ECR International, a division of BDR Thermea announced its acquisition by Granby Industries LP, a division of TerraVest Industries Inc., of Canada.  The acquisition is an ideal fit for both parties, who are committed to bringing the most reliable and efficient heating products to the homes and businesses of their valued customers throughout North America.

Trusted, dependable, high-quality products will continue to be manufactured at both of ECR International’s facilities in Utica and Dunkirk, NY.  Pierre Fournier, President of Granby extended a warm welcome to the employees of ECR into the Granby family by saying “ECR International is a strong business with a portfolio of successful brands, and we’re delighted to welcome its employees to the Granby family. ECR fits within our portfolio of businesses perfectly and we look forward to nurturing its growth and further strengthening our position in the North American heating market.”

Following 32 years of successful leadership with ECR International, Ron Passafaro, President and CEO will be transitioning to retirement, and Mitch O’Connor, who has served as Vice President of Operations for several years will take on the role as President. 

Mitch O’Connor brings to the role a great deal of senior management experience.  Before joining ECR in 2013, O’Connor held leadership positions at Crouse Hinds, a division of Cooper Industries, and Daikin McQuay.  Prior to those roles he held an exemplary 20-year career in the U.S. Navy, culminating as Commander.  O’Connor is from the Manlius, NY region.

Paul Totaro, Vice President and Chief Financial Officer for ECR International with 18 years of dedicated service will also be retiring from his position as part of the transition.  Jim McKallip who has served for years as Director of Research and Development for ECR International will assume the role as Vice President of Research and Development and Technical Affairs.

Jim has extensive HVAC industry experience having worked for both Carrier Corporation as well as Daikin-McQuay prior to joining ECR International. Jim brings over 35 years of Engineering Management and Leadership to his new role as Vice President

Ron and Paul have been successful strategic leaders for ECR and their commitment to the company and employees has been evident in the way they have managed the business.
